Don't get me wrong - I love Consolidated. I physically own 8 of their CD's, and I still get a great kick out of their music. But there's something seriously cheesy about their never-stop-crusading attitude that's not so much admirable for being so socially aware (which it is), but more adorable in that "aww! Look at you trying to change the world all on your ownsome! Who's dropping phat beatz? Is it you? A-woo-woo-woo!". Greg Proops (accompanied by Artis the Spoonman) explains the historical significance of Consolidated:

Whether you find their politics relevant, annoying, engaging, or enraging, they really did put out some great music, and often found a way to make the dense wall of socially-aware lyrics be entertaining by being sly and amusing. Most people remember them for their pro-choice anthem "Butyric Acid", but I've always had a soft-spot for "This Is Fasci$m":

Consolidated is still out there, making noise here and there. You can catch up with them right here
