… is that your brain will do just about anything to distract you, because it views the soul-crushing tasks at hand as a direct threat, and it realizes that against all logic and sanity, you’ve set a collision course with that vile mess. So it will begin to subvert your will and distract you in a variety of ways. And since we’re all snowflakes, it manifests itself differently, based upon our own personalities and the events in our own personal histories.

 

Still, I wouldn’t mind a flow-chart to explain how I got to having Little Richard cover Depeche Mode’s “Blasphemous Rumors” in my head. Not because I’m stressing about it – just curious how that particular boat went down that side-stream in my mental Amazon river.
